Tickets are now on sale for CCADS' production of the hilarious comedy musical 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels'.
Following their vastly successful staging of 'Cats' at the Kings Theatre last year, the multi-award winning company return by popular demand with this musical composed by David Yazbek (The Full Monty). It's based on the popular 1988 film, also titled 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels', which starred Michael Caine and Steve Martin.
The plot centres around the characters of Lawrence Jameson and Freddy Benson:
"Jameson makes his lavish living by talking rich ladies out of their money. Benson swindles women with fabricated stories about his grandmother’s failing health. After meeting on a train, they attempt to work together only to find that this small French town isn’t big enough for the two of them. They agree on a settlement: the first one to extract $50,000 from a young female target, heiress Christine Colgate, wins and the other must leave town. A hilarious battle of cons ensues that will keep audiences laughing, humming and guessing to the end...".
Sophisticated and suave with a good deal of mischief, this laugh-out-loud musical plays from Thursday 16th until Saturday 18th March 2017 at the Kings Theatre in Southsea. It is recommended viewing, even for those who have not seen or heard the musical before.
The show also boasts an impressive résumé. The professional run was nominated for a staggering eleven Tony Awards on Broadway before starting a smash-hit West End run which starred Robert Lindsay and Rufus Hound.
CCADS Theatre are well known for producing high-quality shows: providing fresh takes on classics, or bringing productions to Portsmouth which would, often, otherwise be missed. Advanced booking for 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' is therefore highly recommended to avoid disappointment.
This March the con is on, and we know you won't want to miss it...

There's no denying that Fareham Musical Society have a tough act to follow with their production of 'Annie'. Last time the company staged it, they were nominated for six Curtain Call Awards, won three, and the girl who played Annie went on to star in the West End!
Katie Hartland (pictured below) was delighted to be cast in the titular role of Annie in the 2006 Fareham Musical Society production. Little did she know that ten years later she would be playing Baby in Dirty Dancing at The Kings Theatre, Southsea, in a professional production. Katie has also since appeared in London’s West End.
This year's production sees Eleanor Wallace and Lottie Hall (pictured) playing the same role at the same theatre as Katie. Both girls are regular performers with Fareham Musical Society's talented and ever expanding Youth Theatre. "It wouldn't surprise me if these two young talented girls end up on a West End stage," says Graeme Clements, who is playing Daddy Warbucks. "We have had several young actresses over the years join professional productions and we are very proud of them all, not least Katie who I remember very well stepping out as Annie eleven years ago".
When asked about the role share, Graeme explains: "It is necessary to have two actresses playing the same role to alternate performances. A run of 6 shows in 5 days would prove to be too exhausting for one young girl".
ANNIE by Fareham Musical Society is performed at Ferneham Hall, Fareham, from the 14th - 18th March 2017. 7.30pm nightly performances and a 2.30pm Saturday matinée. Tickets priced between £12 - £15.
Call the Box Office on 01329 231942 or visit www.fernehamhall.co.uk for tickets. Booking recommended.

Hayling Island Amateur Dramatic Society's production of 'Red Riding Hood' at the Station Theatre is one for the family; a very enjoyable two hours of humorous gags, popular songs and "delicious ice cream".
From the very beginning it quickly engages with family members of all ages via slapstick humour for the kids and political quips for the adults. Throughout the journey there are plenty of moments for, what was a packed auditorium, to interact and actively take part in the creative story of Red Riding Hood.
Notable are the performances of Izzy Hudson as Ivor and Naomi Huggins as Red Riding Hood, their vocal capabilities very much captivating the audience.
With running gags from Pete Hewitt and Craig McFarling as Fernandos and The Wolf, the show maintained a very enjoyable light-hearted theme which any pantomime sets out to do. The hilarity and enthusiasm of every single member of the cast was extremely engaging.
Special mention must go to the director Rob Finn whose passion and commitment are very much alive in this production.
Red Riding Hood plays at the Hayling Island Station Theatre until Saturday. 7:30pm nightly and 2:30pm matinée on Saturday. Booking advised.
